Life list

  • Someday I will own (not rent) a home (not a house) I can be proud of. I will cook dinners and bake cookies and host family holidays and there will be room for everyone to sit down. There will be room for my young (beautiful) nieces to play and a big yard for all the dogs to play in… but they’ll be inside with the people anyway.

Done! As of March 26, 2010, The Boy and I are officially homeowners! The house is large enough for just about all of our immediate family to visit and my nieces enjoy running and playing in the yard with the dogs.

  • Someday my place of employment will not give me a headache nor keep me from my loved ones.

Done! I started my new job on January 4, 2010, and am absolutely in love with it. No working on Sundays, I get holidays off and, really, the only part about my job I dislike is waking up before 6 every morning (and even that is pretty tolerable).

  • Someday I will wake up 10 minutes before my alarm goes off, and I will get out of bed instead of rolling over and going back to sleep. Someday I will not hit the snooze button.
  • Someday I will call my mom/aunt/sister/brother/cousin/friend just to say hi and see how things are going. I will make the time instead of wishing.
  • Someday I will kick my dirty, nasty, nervous habits of biting my nails and pulling my eyebrows.Someday I will find a pair of jeans that are not so long on my stubby legs that they require heels.
  • Someday I will learn how to change a flat tire. (Okay, probably not.)
  • Someday I will learn how to make my grandma’s potato salad and I’ll pretend to be okay with the fact that it’s not as good as hers was.
  • Someday I will visit my dad’s grave and someday I’ll stop feeling guilty that for now (and it’s been awhile now) I just can’t go there.
  • Someday I will have bookcases full of more than Harry Potter and chick lit. There will be fiction and nonfiction, biographies and memoirs, and I will always want more.
  • Someday I will visit … no, frequent the used book stores in the area. The people who work there will know me by name and I will know their names, too.
  • Someday I will keep our bank account balanced… accurately.
  • Someday I will change my last name. And, hopefully, I won’t feel guilty about it. Okay, so I might consider hyphenating it… but someday. I will change my last name.
  • Someday I will have internet access at home again (you know I had to bring it up). And it will be wireless because I’ll have a working laptop, too! And we can both be online at the same time, no arguing! Or I can play online while he reloads (it’s all about being comfortable in the same room and not having to talk)! And it will be glorious! Yes, someday.

Done! We got internet at our new home almost immediately after we moved in. In April 2010 we got a Dell mini and I set up our Linksys router all by myself!

  • Someday I will own a pygmy goat. And a beagle. And maybe a mini horse. But definitely a pygmy goat.
  • Someday I will run out of body lotion. But not any time soon. (Seriously? No more for Christmas/birthdays/ANYTHING.)
  • Someday I will have regular blog posts.
  • Someday I will travel to Hawaii. And Boston. And NYC. And Chicago. And Europe (all of it). And go on a cruise. Because someday, I will obviously discover money does, in fact, grow on trees. Or at least MY trees. Obviously.
  • Someday I will be out of debt. (Except maybe a mortgage. THAT I’m okay with because it means I won’t be renting. See the first item on this list.)
  • Someday I will not live paycheck to paycheck.
  • Someday I will wake up and smile when I think about the day ahead of me, even if it’s not Friday or Saturday (i.e., my weekend).
  • Someday, my work week will not include Sundays.

Done! New job in January 2010 – see above.
