DECEMBER 1: If the you of today could go back in time and give advice to any of the previous yous, which age would you visit and what would you tell them? (via Kristen)
I’d go back to when I was about 12 or 13 years old… whatever age I was when my dad started getting his life back on track. He was trying, after all, but I was still so resentful and reluctant to trust him. I’d tell this younger me to try and let it all go; to let the past be the past and to focus on the future with him. Because you just never know how much time you have left with the people you love.
DECEMBER 2: What is the stupidest thing you did this year? What about in your whole life? You can take stupid to mean embarrassing, dangerous, funny, lame, whatever. (via Kassie)
I honestly can’t think of anything stupid I did this year. That doesn’t mean I didn’t do anything stupid… just that I can’t remember. Dumbest thing I’ve ever done, though? Metal slide + middle of winter + trying to run (as in on my FEET) down it = sprained ankle. (Okay, maybe that wasn’t THE dumbest thing, but it’s near the top of the list.)
DECEMBER 3: How did you become more of a grown-up this year? Or did you pull a Peter Pan and stubbornly remain childlike? (via Bethany)
I definitely made the switch from living for myself to being more family-oriented. (See December 5 prompt for reasons behind that.) My life became less about partying on the weekends and more about strengthening the bonds I have with the people who mean the most to me.
DECEMBER 4: In the movie version of your life, which actor/actress would play you and the significant players in your life? What kind of movie is it (e.g., made-for-TV, action, emo/indie, etc.)? What would be the major plot points, and how will it end? (via Emily)
I have always hated this question. So, I’m skipping it. Next!
DECEMBER 5: What is the one thing you finally did this year that you always wanted or said you were going to do, but in your heart of hearts never thought you would actually do? (via Amy)
I got married. I had a baby. ♥ Those were both things I always knew I’d do, but never thought I’d do. Ya know? It’s kind of like when you’re in high school and you’re always counting down to graduation; you know the day will, eventually, come… but when you finally get your cap and gown you can’t really believe it.
