Busy-ness is my business

Good lord. What a week.

Maybe nearing a 60-hour work week isn’t that big of a deal to you, dear reader, but it’s bragging rights for this girl.

New software training. Setting up InDesign libraries (from CS1 to CS3 ) and page templates to prepare for our go live on Monday. Plus dealing with impatience and, at times, not-so-good communication skills on top of creating the newspaper every day. AND trying to give a puppy medication twice a day*?

I’m exhausted. And the house is a friggin’ disaster! Dishes piled up to here, the only laundry that’s been done is Pete’s, and that’s because he did it (gasp!).

But I’m SO excited about this new software at work. It will probably take a little bit of time to get used to it, but it should be about a billion times better (more efficient, easier to use) than our current (soon to be old) system. Hopefully one day we’ll be able to get the full system rather than just the bits and pieces we’re getting now. A full archive system? Web tools? Yes, yes!

* Callie got a scratch on her eye and we’ve been having to put medication on it twice a day. And she has a yeast infection (yeah, it’s as gross as it sounds) in her ears, so we have to clean them out and put medication in them twice a day as well. Apparently these infections are really common in springers – Pete and I had no idea.

On a related (dog) note, Velvet’s been acting really lethargic the past day or two. And last night when I tried to give her a treat, in hopes of it brightening her spirits, she whined/yelped when she tried to eat it, then dropped it and wouldn’t touch it. So this morning while I was in a staff meeting, Pete took her to the vet, who said she thinks there’s a sore in Velvet’s mouth (but she couldn’t be 100 percent sure because Velvet wouldn’t really let her look in her mouth… I could have told her that, I tried looking in her mouth too and she wouldn’t let me). We got some medication for her, too, and if she’s not better by Monday we’re supposed to take her back in. Poor dogs. The only healthy ones in the house are me and the cat.

Oh and side note: Everybody wish Pete a happy birthday – he turns a year older (I’m not divulging that information because, well, I don’t know if he’d want me to) on Sunday!
